- My life is likely to last ten to fifteen years. Any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you buy me.
私の生涯は１０年から１５年くらいしかありません。少しだけでもあなたとは離れているのはつらいのです。私をかう前にそれを忘れないで下さい。 - Give me time to understand what you want of me.
あなたが何を望んでいるかを理解する時間を私に下さい。 - Don’t be angry at me for long and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I have only you.
長い時間怒ったり、罰として閉じ込めたりしないでください。あなたにはお仕事やテレビやお友達がいるでしょう。でも私にはあなたしかいないのです。 - Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understand your words, I understand your voice when its speaking to me.
時々は話しかけてください。あなたの言葉が理解できなくても、話しかけるあなたの声はよく解るのです。 - Be aware that however you treat me, I’ll never forget it.
あなたが私をどんな風にほめてくれるか、私は絶対に忘れません。 - Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones of your hand but that I choose not to bite you.
私をたたく前に、私の歯があなたの手の骨を簡単に噛み砕けるという事を、でも私があなたを噛まない事に決めた事を思い出してください。 - Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or I’ve been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak.
「言う事を聞かない」「頑固だ」「怠け者だ」と私をしかる前に、何か原因がないか考えてみてください。ご飯は？暑い日に外に出している時間が長すぎないか？年をとって心臓が弱っているのかも？
- Take care of me when I get old; you, too, will grow old.
私が年老いた時も世話をしてください。あなたと同じように私も年をとるのです。 - Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, “I can’t bear to watch it, or, “Let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.
